Orlando, FL – On the heels of the SEMA reveal of its brand new, reproduction 1966 Shelby GT350, Revology Cars, the Florida-based specialty automobile manufacturer, is going into production with a 1967 Shelby GT500.
The 1967 Shelby GT500 is one of the most highly sought after Shelby models.  With its reproduction Shelby GT500, Revology will follow its proven formula. “Our cars feature modern technology to improve performance, reliability, durability, fuel economy, safety, and comfort,” said Tom Scarpello, president and founder of Revology Cars, “while retaining the essential character and style of the original design.”
As expected, the new GT500 is powered by the 435hp Ford 5.0L “Coyote” V8, a brand new engine plucked from the same assembly line that feeds the 2017 Mustang GT, built by Ford Motor Company.  “With high-revving power, excellent torque, light weight, smoothness, and modern reliability, the Coyote is the obvious choice,” said Scarpello.  “Yes, compared to a pushrod engine, it is a much more complex installation, there are more technical hurdles to overcome, and it costs more to build.  But it is worth it.  It is definitely the way to go for someone who wants to actually drive his car, not just sit and look at it.”

Although the naturally aspirated 5.0L Coyote is good for quarter mile times in the low 12s, Revology realizes that for some people when it comes to horsepower, too much is never enough. Therefore, it is offering a supercharged option on its GT500.  The S/C engine is the Coyote-based 5.0L RSC, built by Roush Performance, rated at 600hp and 500lb./ft. of torque.  The supercharged car has received a thorough reengineering to handle the increased output of the S/C engine.  “This is not just a supercharger bolted to the base engine, this is a purpose-built supercharged engine originally designed for the Roush Stage III Mustang.  It is bulletproof and comes with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.  Furthermore, we have changed so much of the car to handle the increased output, it is almost a totally different car,” according to Scarpello.
Revology knows that not only engine performance, but also engine sound is a key part of the driving experience.  That is why the company went to Borla Exhaust for an exhaust solution.  The exhaust system is a 2.5” stainless steel, mandrel bent system that provides a throaty V8 sound with low backpressure, and no drone on the highway.  Revology also offers the Borla system as a kit for early Mustangs fitted with the TCI 3-link rear end.
The electrical system of the GT500 was designed in-house, specifically for this application.  “We evaluated some aftermarket systems and while they had some nice features, in the end we realized that to do everything we wanted, we were better off designing our own,” says Nathan Loucks, Revology’s product development manager.  “The system is complex but designed so if there is ever a fault, it will be easy for the technician to diagnose and fix.”
All Revology Mustangs and Shelbys can be created from an original Mustang, or built as a rolling chassis, which classifies it as a replica or kit car in most states.  However, the new low volume replica vehicle regulations expected to be implemented this year will allow Revology to sell brand-new, turnkey vehicles in all 50 U.S. states.  “From the beginning, we’ve designed our cars to comply with the new legislation,” said Loucks.  “This is a game-changer for our company and our industry.”
Revology Cars is one of only three companies worldwide licensed by Shelby American to build authorized reproductions of the vintage 1960s Shelby Mustang automobiles.  Each Revology Shelby GT500 will be documented in the Worldwide Shelby Registry.
The new Revology Shelby GT500 starts at $185,000 for the 435hp 5.0L Coyote version with 6-speed close ratio manual transmission, and runs to $220,000 for the supercharged version.  The cars have an authentic appearance inside and out.  Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power four wheel disc brakes with 330mm slotted and ventilated rotors, six-piston calipers in front and four-piston in the rear, power rack and pinion steering, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, remote trunk release, intermittent wipers, tilt column, Bluetooth, leather seating, three-point seat belts, and a rolling code encrypted ignition system.
