Meet the new Boss, Revology Cars’ born again legend

Orlando, FL – March 18, 2025.  Pushing into exciting new territory, the Orlando, Florida-based company has developed its own special take on the legendary 1969 Boss 429.

“As the world’s leading builder of re-engineered vintage Mustangs and Shelby GTs, it may not be a surprise that we are launching a Boss 429,” says Tom Scarpello, Revology’s founder and CEO. “But what will be a surprise is how far we’ve taken it. The Boss is our most ambitious and advanced vehicle program to date.”

The original Boss 429 was developed by Ford to homologate its new 429 cubic inch (7.0 liter) V8 engine, in response to Chrysler’s dominant 426 Hemi, for NASCAR.  Fewer than 900 1969 Boss 429 models were built, meeting NASCAR’s 500-unit minimum and setting the stage for the Boss 429 to become an automotive icon.

The centerpiece of the Boss 429 was its engine, which was rated at 375hp, but capable of producing 500-600hp with minor modifications. The Revology Boss 429 doesn’t require the customer to make any modifications, though; its supercharged and intercooled 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine makes 710 horsepower and 610 lb./ft. of torque right out of the box.

“The Boss 429 was a ‘secret handshake’ car, that most people overlooked,” says Scarpello. “It was expensive. The power output was conservatively rated. It was devoid of stripes or a rear spoiler, and only the “Boss 429” logo on the side and the huge hood scoop tipped you off that this was no ordinary Mustang. But that engine was something special.  Today, Boss 429s are truly automotive unicorns – you’ll never see one on the street. We’re out to change that.”

To create the Boss 429, Revology first had to develop a 1969 2+2 Fastback body-in-white (the welded, unpainted body structure). The company has been building its own bodies-in-white for several years, so the newer body style was a logical line extension.  The Boss 429 body is the first Revology body-in-white to benefit from more precise assembly fixturing designed in CAD (computer aided design) for superior dimensional control.

The rest is straight from the Revology playbook, including automated spot welding for consistent weld integrity, seam welding for added strength, and heat-cured structural adhesive for improved torsional rigidity and stiffness.

The Revology Boss features the same meticulously engineered chassis that is found on Revology’s 1967 GT500 and 1968 Shelby GT500KR models.  Although the original Boss 429 was only offered with a manual transmission and no air conditioning, Revology buyers can choose between a six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic, and air conditioning is standard.

The exterior design of the Revology Boss 429 is virtually identical to the original, with the most notable difference being the larger 17-inch wheels, required for fitment of modern disc brakes.

Revology Cars’ engineering and design team paid special attention to the Boss 429 interior. “The interior represents a major new initiative for us,” explains Scarpello, “as it features almost entirely Revology-designed components, including upper and lower dash, door panels, seats, veneers, and interior trim panels, which reflect the original aesthetic but are made with premium materials.”

Revology’s reproduction of the legendary 1969 Boss 429 is sure to excite Mustang enthusiasts worldwide.

Revology plans to build 15 Boss Mustangs this year, all of which have been allocated to current clients.  Next year, the company plans to build 50.

Pricing for Revology’s Boss 429 has yet to be announced, but Yoshi Amano, vice president of marketing, sales and service, says new clients can reserve a Boss 429 now with a fully refundable deposit.

“Launching the Boss 429 is an exciting step for us.  It builds on the work we have continuously developed for more than a decade and adds much that is new and innovative,” says Scarpello.  “I am very proud of all the cars we’ve done, but the Boss 429 may be our most compelling offering to date.”
