Revology Cars Channels Trans-Am Heritage with 1970 Mustang Boss 302

Concord, NC, April 11, 2026 – Revology Cars, the world’s leading builder of re-engineered and restored classic Mustangs, today announced the debut of its latest model, the 1970 Mustang Boss 302.

Expanding its lineup following the introduction of its 1969 Boss 429 last fall, Revology’s 1970 Boss 302 pays tribute to one of the most iconic road racing homologation specials ever – reimagined with modern engineering, performance, and drivability.

Originally produced only in 1969 and 1970, the Boss 302 was developed to allow Ford to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series.  The car featured a unique, high-revving engine, competition-tuned suspension, and functional aero and cooling components.

“The Boss 302 was a race car for the street,” says Tom Scarpello, founder and CEO of Revology Cars. “Our goal was to preserve that high-revving, track-focused character while delivering the refinement, reliability, and usability expected of a modern performance car.”

While the 1969 model was more closely aligned with the race car, the 1970 version became especially popular for its flamboyant styling and signature “shaker” hood, which featured an air cleaner that protruded through the center of the hood.  Engine torque caused the intake to visibly move – giving rise to the “shaker” name.  Revology has faithfully recreated the visual drama of the shaker, despite the modern Ford 5.0L engine’s intake being located not on top of the engine, but in the left front apron.

Powering the Revology Boss 302 is a new 5.0L Ford ‘Coyote’ V8 producing 460 horsepower.  Like the original Boss 302 engine, it is a high-revving, naturally aspirated 90 degree V8, but that is where the similarities end.  While the Coyote may be the spiritual successor to the original Boss 302 engine, mechanically the two have nothing in common–the modern engine features an aluminum block and heads, four cams, 32 valves, direct and port fuel injection, and electronic engine management, vs. the cast iron, single cam, eight valve, carbureted 1969 engine. With its advanced design, the Revology Boss 302 engine delivers the expected authentic V8 soundtrack, but with much more power, modern drivability, everyday reliability and fuel efficiency.

With its focused “race car for the street” mission, the original Boss 302 was only offered with a four-speed manual transmission.  And even features popular back in the ‘70s, such as air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, were unavailable.  The Revology Boss 302, however, doesn’t demand such compromises–buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.  Air conditioning, hydraulic power rack and pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, and a host of other modern features are all standard.

As with all Revology vehicles, the Boss 302 is built on an all-new steel body engineered for significantly improved rigidity and refinement. The chassis features a double-wishbone front suspension with aluminum subframe and a three-link rear suspension with torque arm and Panhard rod.

The design of the original Boss 302 was expressive compared to the relatively conservative and businesslike Boss 429, and Revology has meticulously replicated the Boss 302’s most distinctive design elements, including its unique paint scheme, decklid spoiler, and louvered backlite glass, preserving the unmistakable look that made the Boss 302 model a standout.

Inside, the cabin blends classic Mustang design cues with modern ergonomics, materials, and craftsmanship. The result is a driving environment that feels both authentic and contemporary, equally suited for spirited driving or everyday use.

The introduction of the Boss 302 further strengthens Revology’s position as the leader in re-engineered classic Mustangs, offering clients a broader range of historically significant models redefined through modern technology.
