Revology Cars confirms it will build legendary Shelby GT500KR

On the heels of Ford’s release of its newest Mustang, Revology Cars is announcing its own exciting new reproduction Mustang model, the 1968 Shelby GT500KR.

The “KR” in GT500KR stands for “King of the Road”, and in 1968, it was.  Powered by a 7.0-liter (428 cubic inch) Cobra Jet V8 putting out nearly 400 gross horsepower, the 1968 GT500KR was the fastest and most luxurious Mustang ever produced. 

Fast forward to 2022 and Florida-based Revology Cars is remaking the KR, but this time, with modern performance, reliability, and comfort.  Revology’s slogan is ‘We don’t build them like they used to’, which is immediately apparent when perusing any of the company’s offerings.  The Revology Shelby GT500KR will be no exception. 

The Revology 1968 GT500KR will feature the same 710hp supercharged 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine as the company’s 1967 Shelby GT500.  The engine is paired with a choice of six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmissions.  The Revology engine has approximately twice the power as the naturally aspirated 7.0-liter in the 1968 KR, with the added benefit of modern reliability and drivability.

With the KR, Revology is following the company’s usual thorough approach to product development.  Although the Revology KR is very similar to the company’s ’67 Shelby GT500, it is doing a full production prototype build to validate all unique KR parts and assembly operations to ensure quality. 

Revology Founder and CEO Tom Scarpello says the company is adding the KR in response to customer demand for this highly coveted and respected Shelby model.  Introducing the KR is now possible because Revology is moving to a larger production facility and will finally have the capacity to add new models.

“Demand for Revology products has outpaced our production capacity since we started the company in 2014, and most people have never even heard of us yet,” says Scarpello.  “It didn’t make sense to expand our portfolio when we were capacity constrained.  Now it is a different ballgame.”

Indeed, in the context of the 85-million unit global automobile industry, few consumers know about Revology Cars.  But within the company’s unique market niche, Revology is well-known and respected, and has clearly established itself as the leading builder of new reproduction Mustang and Shelby GT automobiles on the planet.  This bodes well for the company’s future prospects.
